Tacloban City – The first-ever two-day warriors of light summit formally kicked-off on June 20, at Patio Victoria spearheaded by PHILRECA in partnership with Frecor 8 and LEYECO II being the host electric cooperative.
This gathering of around 300 line workers is aimed to recognize, acknowledge, and appreciate the efforts, contributions, and achievements of linemen who are pioneers in furthering the rural electrification movement and development. Their contributions are significant not only to their respective electric cooperatives, but to the overall advancement towards a brighter Philippines.
Among the activities in line with the event are lineman rodeo competition, lineman magpasikat during the fellowship night and plenary on the second day where the participants were re-oriented on system loss reduction, safety for line workers, basic life support and first aid, responding to hazards in the workplace and line training regulation.
With optimism, NEA Administrator Edgardo Rama Masongsong, the keynote speaker of the summit, hoped that the competition will not only be a showcase of lineman’s skills in climbing a pole but also an opportunity to align the hearts and minds in realizing the movement’s mission.
Also included in the guest list are the four newly elected partylist representatives of Philreca, APEC, Ako Padayon and RECOBODA.
The warriors of light also paid tribute to electrification heroes who lost their lives in service of their countrymen.
