BILECO energizes 3.15 MVA substation, supplies electricity to Biliran town

GM Gerardo Oledan, together with the BILECO Board of Directors, spearheaded today’s Blessing, Inauguration, and Energization of the 3.15 MVA transformer substation at Brgy. San Roque, Biliran, Biliran. Present also at the event were SB Biliran Member, Hon. Willy Corpin accompanied by SB Secretary Renan Enage, Ms. Arabella Palatan and company of Asiaphil Inc., BILECO management team and employees, and Rev. Fr. Cornelio Amante, Jr. who administered the blessing of the substation.

The said energization is in preparation for the anticipated increase in the demand of electricity within the franchise area. The coop is expecting for a higher electricity demand in 2023 and the succeeding years as more commercial establishments are signifying their intent to expand their businesses in the province, and government infrastructures are on the rise such as the construction of the new Biliran Provincial Hospital in Brgy. Larrazabal, Naval among others.

During his message, GM Oledan announced the good news on the ongoing construction activities of the Biliran Geothermal, Inc. (BGI) for the generation of an expected 2.5 megawatts of electricity from their wells located at Sitio Pulang Yuta, Brgy. Cabibihan, Caibiran. The construction is expected to end by the first quarter of 2023 with its possible commissioning and energization come second quarter of the same year after completion of regulatory compliances from concerned agencies such as the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) and the Department of Energy (DOE). ##
