The Philippine Rural Electric Cooperatives Association (PHILRECA) today had made reassurance to protect every Filipino in all its capacity.

This was bared by PHILRECA during the opening of the four-day virtual conference attended by the 121 electric cooperatives in the country in celebration of its 41st Annual General Membership Meeting (AGMM) with the theme “Charging for the Future: Strengthening the One EC MCO Movement Towards a Resilient Rural Electrification Program.”

The event was graced by PHILRECA President, Hon. Presley C. De Jesus, who emphasized the association’s strong determination to continue serving MCOs and to forever protect ECs in its mission of total rural electrification.

PHILRECA, spearheaded by General Manager Atty. Janeene Depay-Colingan, has no doubt been giving its best efforts through programs and projects made to respond especially to this year’s unprecedented crises experienced in the entire country.

“Sa nakalipas na mahigit apat na dekada, isa po ako sa naging saksi sa walang sawang pagtulong at pagsuporta ng PHILRECA sa 121 electric cooperatives sa buong bansa. Through the years, PHILRECA has been a symbol of hope for the people in the countryside,” stated by APEC Party-list Representative Sergio C. Dagooc in his message together with other power bloc party-list representatives Hon. Godofredo N. Guya of Recoboda, Hon. Adriano A. Ebcas of Ako Padayon and Hon. Presley C. De Jesus of PHILRECA.

NEA Administrator Edgardo Rama Masongsong also had his hour who highlighted the laws, policies and programs for sustainable rural development and nation-building in rural electrification. He stressed that total rural electrification will prosper if each one will take its part seriously in supporting the missionary electrification operation.

The event was also attended by Hon. Juan Miguel F. Zubiri, Hon. Lord Allan Jay Q. Velasco and Hon. Juan Miguel “Mikey” M. Arroyo who agreed to protect ECs against the threats of giant private distribution utilities and other entities who are only after profits.

Hon. Migz Zubiri commended PHILRECA for standing strong amidst the challenges brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic and in continuing to serve rural communities in this time of need.

“Truly, PHILRECA lives up to the spirit of cooperativism by helping Filipinos help themselves,” he added.

On this first day of PHILRECA’s historic event, a massive shield has been set and broadcasted for everyone to hear and to witness the association’s ways to protect its member-consumer-owners and the Filipinos from far-flung areas who are yet to receive the electric service that they deserve.
