The Board and the management had met with the barangay electricians on Tuesday, July 10, to discuss with them the proposed electricians accreditation.
In the draft proposal, all existing barangay electricians will be required to submit, among others, NC II certificate and will undergo training and theory and practical assessment. Those who will pass the assessment will be issued an identification card and a uniform.
One of the main objectives of the accreditation is to equip the electricians in their craft and strengthen the relations between the electricians, member-consumers and BILECO.
Apart from this, the management also seeks to establish a uniform tariff for house wiring installation in all districts.
BILECO considers electricians as dependable partner in the pursuit of rural electrification program. The management, in recognition to their contribution, opened the possibility of tapping them as partner in the implementation of routine Coop activities such line clearing, meter reconnection and disconnection as additional livelihood opportunity.
The second round meeting is set on July 27 to discuss in detail the draft policy on accreditation.
