Thirteen BILECO personnel composed of engineers and linemen attended the electrical safety training in Ormoc City on November 28-29, 2017 sponsored by the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP).
The primary objective of the training was to remind and guide the participants how to recognize the various electrical hazards involved in lineman’s work, in such a way that they will be able to prevent work-related accidents, make safety a way of life and prevent injuries, death and property damages.
The participants were also reminded on the importance of occupational safety and health considering that 88% of the immediate causes of accidents are due to unsafe acts, 10% due to unsafe conditions and 2% due to acts of nature. This implies that 98% of the accidents in the workplace can be prevented if safety practices and procedures are duly observed including the use of personal protective equipment.
BILECO was joined by Leyeco 3 and Leyeco 5 in the said training comprising a total of 44 participants.
