“It is never too late to learn.”
This has been the concluding statement pronounced by Institutional Services Department (ISD) Manager Allan Joseph S. Borrinaga in his closing remarks after a two-day media skills training held at the multi-purpose building of the Biliran Electric Cooperative, Inc. (BILECO), December 6.
The two-day media skills training was facilitated by Member Development Officer (MDO) and Information Officer-Designate of BILECO Ann-Marie Meracap who mirrored her discussion with the national media skills training which she attended last October 23 to 25 in Tagaytay City.
More than 19 selected personnel from BILECO showcased their skills and abilities in writing news stories during the workshop sessions on the first and second day of the training.
The ISD Manager who was a former editor-in-chief at the Pillar Publication of Naval State University (NSU) now Biliran Province State University (BiPSU) served as one of the critics on the individual and group outputs during the workshop.
Meanwhile, the participants were also tested with impromptu media interviews and flaunted their proficiency in answering random questions from the speaker.
“I am truly impressed on the kind of participation you’ve shown in the entire training and I hope that the learnings I have imparted to you should be applied for a good cause,” said Meracap.
Meracap also reminded the participants to never be afraid to share their ideas and serve as information officers in helping the electric cooperative in disseminating relevant issues and information to its member-consumer-owners (MCOs).
A strong media team within the coop is expected to rise after concluding the training.
