The Federation of Rural Electric Cooperatives in Region 8 (FRECOR 8) has noting but praises to BILECO for the successful and ‘flawless’ hosting of FRECORLYMPICS 2019 last May 28-31 at Naval, Biliran.
Around 600 delegates coming in from the 11 electric cooperatives (ECs) in Region VIII gathered to witness this year’s Frecorlympics to include: DORELCO, LEYECO II, LEYECO III, LEYECO IV, LEYECO V, SOLECO, ESAMELCO, SAMELCO I, SAMELCO II, NORSAMELCO and BILECO.
The 3-day event kicked off with a thanksgiving mass offered at the Cathedral of our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Naval Parish on the 28th day of May at exactly 1 pm. A colorful parade followed around the town proper of Naval with the different participating electric cooperatives (ECs) who flaunted their uniforms and showed off their cheers and chants for their respective ECs. Moreover, an opening program was conducted at the Biliran Island State University (BIPSU) Ovals where in the presentation of candidates for the Miss Frecor 2019 was also held which gave more delight and excitement to all delegates.
On his message before the participants, Engr. Gerardo Oledan, the General Manager of the host EC welcomed and reminded all the ECs to remain confident but humble throughout the entire conduct of activities to achieve the FRECOR 8’s goals and objectives.
Moreover, the said event was also graced with the following guests; the National Administration Electrification (NEA) Representative Atty. Vicar Loureen Lofranco,the newly elected Congressman representative of APEC Partylist and President of the National Association of General Managers in the Philippines GM Sergio Dagooc, the General Manager of the Philippine Rural Electric Cooperatives Association, Inc. (PHILRECA) Atty. Janeene D. Colingan and the newly elected Congressman for PHILRECA Partylist and Board President of PHILRECA Director Presley De Jesus.
Despite being physically drained after taking part in the opening and sports activities, the delegates enjoyed the Fellowship Night and Miss Frecor 2019 Talent Search held at the BIPSU Gymnasium, 6pm on the 28th day with overflowing foods prepared by the organizers of the host EC.
Atty. Janeene Depay-Colingan of PHILRECA, in her inspirational message, congratulated Frecor 8 on its successful Frecorlympics 2019. She also encouraged all ECs in the region to be positive in all walks of life and be reminded on the 2019 Frecorlympics theme song that “Nothing is impossible, even moving highest mountains”. She then reiterated that nothing can stop the EC-MCO movement.
However, all ECs were even more determined on the second and third day as they were heated up to compete for the different sports games to include Volleyball, Badminton, Basketball, Table Tennis, Billiards, Chess, Dama, Dart and Triathlon relay which was the highlight game of the said event.
But what thrilled most ECs was the Awarding Ceremony and the Search for Miss Frecor 2019 held at BIPSU Gymnasium, 8pm on the 30th day of May.
Juvel Ducay of LEYECO 3 was crowned as the new Miss Frecor 2019, Darl Octa Henessa Santos (BILECO) first runner- up, Emily Marie Brumby (LEYECO 2) second runner-up, Gabrielle Camille Basiano (ESAMELCO) third runner up and Marianna Niel Insigne (SAMELCO 2), fourth runner- up.
Overall, the defending SAMELCO II remained as the champion for the Frecorlympics 2019 after winning a total of 26 medals with 21 golds.
The next Frecorlympics is set to conduct on the year 2021 at the new host electric cooperative SOLECO in Southern, Leyte.
With the firm, passionate and commendable support coming from the Biliran Island State University (BIPSU), the Biliran Police Provincial Office and the Medical Team in the province, this year’s Frecorlympics was successfully concluded.
