100% barangay power restoration attained before Christmas

BILECO, one of the ECs badly-hit by tropical storm Urduja, has successfully met the 100% barangay power restoration deadline on December 24 due to quick and organized restoration efforts.

GM Gerardo Oledan announced as early as Monday on the eyed restoration timeline of the seven district towns in spite of difficulties in mobilization. He further stressed that efforts shall be focused first on restoring power in the backbone or primary lines to energize key agencies and establishments that deliver services to the affected communities.



On December 21, BILECO was able to restore power in all towns, Kawayan being the last.

BILECO linemen also doubled their efforts on areas not accessible due to severe landslides and flooding. On December 24, the last three upland barangays in Sampao, Almeria and Villacaneja and Libtong in Naval were energized.

Although 100% barangay power restoration was attained, the management was keen at informing the public that there are still remaining areas with no power, those connected to the lateral lines, including sitios. BILECO has also coordinated with the Bureau of Fire Protection to conduct joint inspection to flooded areas to ensure safety of the member-consumers.

BILECO has right now turned its focus to these unenergized areas, employing all workable measures to provide them light on or before the New Year’s Eve.
